 Facilities Resource, Inc.—or simply FRI—began in 1997 when Margaret Ross founded the company with a simple but powerful vision: build a business rooted in service, trust, and doing right by clients in every detail of a project.

What started as a small, relationship-driven company has grown over nearly three decades into a full-service workplace solutions partner serving organizations throughout Central Texas. Along the way, one thing has remained constant—the belief that business is ultimately about people and the relationships you build with them.

In 2011, Darren joined FRI, bringing his own experience in the corporate business industry and a shared belief that FRI could become something more than a traditional furniture or services company. Together, Margaret and Darren began shaping the next chapter of FRI, expanding its capabilities and building a company that could support clients through more of the workplace lifecycle—from planning and procurement to furniture, interiors, installation, relocations, and ongoing support.

That evolution came from seeing the same challenge again and again in the industry: too often, the emphasis was on selling a product rather than understanding the people, organization, and purpose behind the project. Margaret and Darren believed there was a better way.

Listen first. Understand the need. Then find the right solution.

That philosophy continues to shape how FRI works today. We don’t believe our clients should have to know exactly what furniture they need before they call us. They shouldn’t have to coordinate multiple companies to get a workplace project completed. Our job is to listen, bring the right expertise to the table, and help make the process easier from beginning to end.

Today, FRI brings together furniture expertise, interior planning, project management, procurement, delivery, installation, relocations, and ongoing workplace services under one partner. Whether it’s a single office, a new workplace, a relocation, a renovation, or a complex multi-phase project, we approach every engagement with the same attention to detail and commitment to service.

Partners, Not Customers

At FRI, we use the word Partner intentionally.

We believe the best ideas rarely come from one person or one company. They come from collaboration—bringing together clients, designers, architects, manufacturers, contractors, and our own team to understand the challenge, share ideas, and create solutions that work.

Over the years, that approach has helped us build relationships that go far beyond individual projects. Our clients become people we know, understand, and continue to support long after the furniture is delivered and the project is complete.

For Margaret and Darren, building FRI has always been about more than growing a business. It is about building something that lasts—an organization that reflects hard work, accountability, service, and a genuine commitment to the Central Texas community we call home.

Nearly 30 years later, that vision continues to guide us.
